FAQ
Craftinery FAQ
Testing and access
What is Craftinery?
Craftinery App helps you manage craft projects, from instructions and supplies to stages, progress and work time. Craftinery Lab is a separate, planned product for designing ideas. This website is informational, not a browser version of App.
Is Craftinery App available yet?
Access to the first Android tests is being prepared. Recruitment for that group is closed; invited testers will receive a separate email with installation and getting-started instructions. Testing and the public launch have not been announced as started.
Can I still apply for the first group?
No. Recruitment for the first group is closed. Interest in the app’s ongoing development is separate and does not give you a place in this round.
Does my earlier application guarantee a place?
No. The first group is limited. Signing up and confirming an address do not constitute an invitation; invited testers will receive the next steps separately by email.
What will testing involve?
Using Craftinery with your own projects and sharing bugs, unclear actions, hard-to-find features and missing solutions. Invited testers will receive further information.
Which devices are included in the first tests?
Android phones and tablets. iOS, desktop and browser versions of App are not part of this stage.
Can I withdraw my earlier application?
Yes. Contact privacy@craftinery.com or use the unsubscribe link in an email you received.
Does closing recruitment change my consent?
No. Existing data and consents are not automatically changed. Messages can only be sent within the consent given; this is not automatic enrolment in a new list.
How much will Craftinery cost?
Pricing and the final payment model have not been decided. Taking part in testing does not determine the later offer.
How are Craftinery App and Craftinery Lab different?
App manages projects, supplies, files and work. Access to its tests is being prepared. Lab is a separate, planned product for designing ideas.
Craftinery App
What can I organise in Craftinery App?
Manage projects across techniques, stages, items and independent progress for each copy. Counters, resume points, sessions separating work and breaks and the reader help you continue. Inventory includes locations, lots, assignments, actual consumption, tools and history. Shopping also handles partial deliveries. Calendar, inspiration, notes, photos, costing, exports and backups support the project; use only the tools you need.
Which languages does the app support?
The Craftinery App interface is available in Polish and English. Changing the language also switches the Help, FAQ and legal documents. Your own project names, notes and files stay in the language in which you added them.
Do I need an account to use the app?
Yes. Access to the test version is linked to a Craftinery account. The installation file alone is not enough to open the protected version of the app.
Does Craftinery App work offline?
Core work runs locally after successful access verification, for up to 24 hours since the last successful check and no longer than the access entitlement remains valid. Sign-in, sync, missing-file and model downloads and online barcode lookup require a network connection.
Where is my data stored?
A working copy is kept in the app’s private area on your device. Account data and selected files are also synchronised with Craftinery’s private cloud infrastructure, which is based on Supabase.
Can I use Craftinery on both a phone and a tablet?
Yes. You can use the same account on an Android phone and tablet. When both devices are online, Craftinery synchronises your data between them.
Can I move an active work session to another device?
Yes. One device controls the session at a time, but you can take it over on the other device and continue working. The handover requires an internet connection.
What happens if the data on my devices no longer matches?
Craftinery should not quietly replace one version with another. If it detects a conflict, it may pause synchronisation and ask which data you want to keep.
Does cloud synchronisation replace backups?
No. Synchronisation keeps your devices up to date, while a backup is a separate copy saved in a location you choose. It is worth creating one before changing devices, importing a large amount of data or restoring an earlier copy.
Can I restore my data from a backup?
Yes. You can select a valid backup and restore your data from it. Restoring may replace your current data, so the app warns you before the process begins. A backup is linked to the account that created it.
Can I delete my data and keep my account?
Yes. The “Delete all Craftinery data” option removes projects and other data linked to your account while leaving the account itself and its app access in place.
Which files can I add?
Craftinery supports photos and PDF, TXT, DOC and DOCX files. You can keep them with a project and open them while you work. More complex DOC or DOCX files may look different depending on how the document was created.
Can other users see my projects?
No. Your projects and files are not public or shared with other users. Data is processed only as needed to run and synchronise the app, keep it secure and provide support.
Does the app contain advertising?
No. The current version does not contain advertising or marketing profiling.
Why does the app ask for permissions?
Photos and files can be selected through Android’s system picker. Camera use for photos and scanning is optional. The microphone is only needed after permission and explicit activation of local Polish or English voice controls. This Vosk / Alpha Cephei feature does not save or upload recordings or transcripts. Models need downloading; saved data and files sync with your account. Notifications and the overlay require the relevant Android permissions.
Do session notifications work when the app is closed?
Notifications can work outside the app, but require Android permission. Delivery and sound also depend on channels, Do Not Disturb, silent mode and battery saving; the system may delay an alarm.
How do I recover my password?
Use the password recovery option on the sign-in screen. The email sent to your account address will let you set a new password and return to the app.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, choose Settings > Account > Delete account, or use the account deletion page. Uninstalling does not delete your account or cloud data.
Can I add patterns that I have purchased?
Yes, if you use them for your own purposes and the designer’s licence allows it. Adding a file to Craftinery does not give you the right to share the pattern with other people.
How do I report a bug or contact Craftinery?
Email support@craftinery.com with the app version, your device model and a short description of what you did before the problem appeared. Do not send your password or private files unless I have agreed a secure way to share them with you.
Where can I find Craftinery on social media?
You can find Craftinery on Instagram as @craftinery and on Facebook under the name Craftinery.
Current features and their limits
Is Catalog the same as Inventory?
No. Catalog defines products, including ones you do not own. Inventory records actual stock, locations and assignments. Adding a Catalog product does not increase stock.
Does assigning a material consume it?
No. Assign supplies, record actual usage separately and return leftovers. Return a reusable crochet hook rather than consuming it.
Can I receive part of an order?
Yes. Record the quantity actually received. Confirm the product, variant, unit, location and lot before increasing Inventory. Receive an earlier delivery later from its history without recording the same delivery again.
What do OCR, barcodes and QR do?
On-device OCR suggests label fields for review. Product codes search your own data first; optional online databases cannot cover everything. QR opens your own location on the correct account, not public access to stock.
Does every PDF automatically become a project?
No. Attaching instructions is separate from structural import. Compatible-PDF import is implemented, but current Help still describes it as in preparation and advises against important work before readiness is announced. The website converter is not released.
Do annotations change the original PDF?
No. They are an app layer. The original pattern stays unchanged; sharing the original alone may not transfer annotations.
Is drying counted as work time?
Not automatically. Record drying, cooling and similar activities as separate processes. Process duration is not active work time.
What does project cost include?
Active work time and your rate, known consumed-material costs and additional expenses. Missing data is not zero cost. This is not accounting or an invoice.
Does the app publish posts or buy supplies?
No. Publication records keep a link. Photo movies are simple MP4 files to save and share separately. Shopping lists and low-stock prompts do not buy anything automatically.
Where is the full guide?
Built-in Help has 22 Polish and English topics. The website guide has 32 searchable topics, from a first project to Inventory, voice and backups.
